CALIENTE
VISUAL IDENTITY FOR
A REGGAETON PLAYLIST
PROJECT TEAM:
FERNANDO ABDO CONTARIM AND MARIA ALICE DE SÁ QUEIROZ
2023
︎︎︎
Caliente embodies the pulsating rhythms of reggaeton in its vibrant playlist. In meticulously crafting its visual identity, especially focusing on typography, we immersed ourselves in the tapestry of influences from the Puerto Rican diaspora, salsa, and the iconic Fania All Stars, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping the genesis and evolution of reggaeton. Drawing inspiration from the diverse visual heritage of Latin America, we uncovered the dynamic Cholet architectural style prevalent in Bolivia and Peru, echoing the vivacity of Andean aguayo textiles. These influences culminated in the development of an authentic and widely resonant representation of Latin essence, infusing the graphics with an unmistakable vitality and cultural depth.

2022
︎︎︎
Empadas da Gilda brings the beloved cuisine of Rio to the heart of Brazil's capital, seamlessly blending the time-honored tradition of an ancestral family recipe with the modernity and convenience of serving patrons both at home and at premier events in Brasília. Crafted with a delicate, airy dough enveloping generous fillings, our empadas are freshly prepared each day and baked on-site, ensuring a delightful fusion of textures and flavors that tantalize the palate.
Inspired by the vibrant hues and tantalizing textures of our empada's ingredients, our brand's visual identity reflects the essence of tradition and artisanal craftsmanship. Utilizing serif typography and organic shapes, we evoke a sense of heritage while infusing our aesthetic with a contemporary, invigorating energy.
OPEMA
OPEMA
(POLICY AND MACROECONOMICS OBSERVATORY)
2021
︎︎︎
OPEMA, the Policy and Microeconomics Observatory, is an initiative led by students from the Institute of Economics at the University of Campinas, Brazil (Unicamp). It emerged with the mission of fostering and democratizing heterodox scientific knowledge in economics and politics, anchored in the ESG concept and offering alternative perspectives to the predatory neoliberal framework dominating Brazil. The initiative seeks to integrate, aggregate, and disseminate macroeconomic scientific productions and content for academics, public officials, and the general populace keen on the subject.
The visual identity of the brand is rooted in the principles of transversality, territoriality, circularity, expansion, and democratization—core values for OPEMA. It draws inspiration from Brazil's rich cultural tapestry and natural splendor, resulting in a synthesis of earthy tones in the color palette, graphics reminiscent of indigenous patterns, and a logo evoking the typographic aesthetics of street posters, known locally as 'lambe-lambe.' This cohesive blend embodies OPEMA's commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and the vibrant spirit of Brazilian identity.
